Frequently asked questions

How PythiaFootball works, what the numbers mean, and how to read them.
What is PythiaFootball?
A football analytics platform. Our model, Pythia, learns each team's point-in-time form and runs a Monte Carlo simulation to turn it into calibrated probabilities for match results, goals, corners, cards and fouls across Europe's leagues.
Are the predictions guaranteed?
No. Every output is a probability, never a certainty. Football is unpredictable - the model only estimates how likely each outcome is from the data. Treat everything here as information and entertainment.
Is this financial advice?
No. PythiaFootball provides statistical analysis and predictions for informational and entertainment purposes only. Nothing here is financial advice or a recommendation to stake money.
How does the model work?
It builds a point-in-time picture of each team's attacking and defensive form (including expected goals where available), simulates the match many times, and reads off calibrated probabilities. We validate it walk-forward against historical results - see the Validation page.
What does 'edge' mean?
Edge is the gap between our model's probability and the probability implied by the average market odds. A positive edge means the model rates the outcome more likely than the odds imply - a purely analytical comparison.
What are 'ROI' and 'hit rate'?
Hit rate is how often the model's pick matched the actual result. ROI is the theoretical return on a flat, level stake at the odds shown, graded against real results - published only to show the model's track record transparently.
How accurate is Pythia?
We publish the model's historical accuracy and ROI on the Validation page, graded openly against actual results - including where it performs well and where it doesn't.
Is it free?
Yes - the core analytics, predictions and match pages are free to use.
What data do you use?
Historical match results, team form and expected-goals data where available, and average market odds for context and calibration.
Who is this for?
Football fans, analysts and anyone who enjoys data-driven insight into matches. The site is intended for adults (18+) and is for entertainment, not a guarantee of any outcome.
